Movie Meltdown - Episode 501

This week we are coming to you "live" from Atlanta as we are lured into town to cover DragonCon. But as usual we are easily sidetracked and next thing we know - the episode ends up in Piedmont Park. And to add an even stranger twist... what happens when we meet up with a longtime listener of our show? Will one of us turn out to be a weirdo in the park... or will it just end up leading to a lot of geeky movie talk?! Only one way to find out...

And as we get sucked into the ether and create a whole new mythology, we also bring up… Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, narrative arc, Peter Hyams, a fiery bus crash, a safe way to process emotions, the ravenous fickle fanbase, you’re soaking in it, and Spock shows up, the feel of 80’s horror, what is cool is like a moment in time, I just want to live in this environment, my shameful most proud moment, Land of the Dead, the seventies mavericks versus the nineties gen-X kids, War of the Worlds, aging directors, raised on these pre-packaged dreams, Mandy, avenue-type shopping communities, George Romero, Snake Plissken riding on the back of Battle Cat, this is the movie that all my film professors wish they made, spaghetti westerns, be John Carpenter, weird alien rants, we were scared and everything was going to kill us, The Toolbox Murders, I’m like working through the darkest period in cinema, Abel Ferrara, Stay Tuned, nostalgic vibe, die a genius now, a choppy crazy editor, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, it's kind of like that movie, Night of the Living Dead, Tobe Hooper, 28 Days Later, Tim Robbins, Messiah of Evil and directors making the worst movies of their career.

Spoiler Alert: There are some overall tonal and story arc spoilers for “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood”. So be warned if you haven’t watched yet.

“It's kind of surreal ‘cause I have been listening to the show for about 10 years now or so… it got me through many dark times. So I'm like the crazy obsessed fan… that now is on the other side of the looking glass here.”
