Movie Meltdown - Episode 146

This week we do our best impression of a gourmet coffee show on PBS, as we roll into a one-two punch of Marlena Moments. All that before discussing this week’s Sofa Theater feature - “The Incredible Shrinking Woman”. Loaded with an impressive cast, anti-consumerism messages and a gorilla flipping you off. (I think we have our work cut out for us.) Plus a “One from the Vaults” memory from the film’s star Lily Tomlin!

And after we do our part to help society with Movie Meltdown’s public service announcement, we go on to mention… going to third base, an Easter-themed neighborhood, subdued but still obnoxious, Gandhi eating Mayor McCheese, Jane Wagner, going to jail for the Lord Jesus Christ, that pistachio suit, stock gorilla suits, Jello shots… two birds with one stone, why is Lily Tomlin so hot?, Concepcion, the trashiest drunkest pseudo-bikers you could ever find, Barbie Dreamhouse, the screaming box, why women aren’t funny?, Jesus riding a T-Rex, Henry Gibson, The Keystone Kops, 80’s high back-butt, characters grow… people change, Dinosaurs and monster trucks, JT, Raymond Carver, Rick Baker, Mike Douglas, Pussy Bow Blouse, AH!, the twin-pack sidetrack, toxic soup will save us, and the fact that it looks like a swingers party - and everybody’s ugly!

Spoiler Alert: Full spoilers for “The Incredible Shrinking Woman”. Go watch it now, for spoiler-free listening.

Movie Meltdown - Episode 144

Your favorite caffeinated movie geeks are back!! Hopped up on a new blend, we break out our usual rundown of geek activities and ridiculous comments. And if that wasn’t enough, we follow that up with our exclusive interview with comedy legend - Lily Tomlin! It was amazing to get a chance to talk with her, as we discuss - the early days, her film career, overcoming adversity in show business, and we might even touch on a little “meltdown” she was involved in herself a few years ago.

And at some point surrounding our discussion on the utter despair of Peanuts, we also mention… Hesher, why Wilson could never show his face, throwing Jujubes at people, Peggy Feury, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Danny McBride, Paul Thomas Anderson, NCIS, one of the sexist things I’ve ever seen in film, Harold and Maude, Robert Shaw, Magnolia, Mayans walking through the woods for a long time, a sleazy kind of sexy scoundrel, Battle Royale, Eastbound and Down, Simon Pegg, Sitting Pretty, Charles Nelson Reilly, Catfish, a tube sock full of francs, The Wild Hunt, Waitress temping, Nietzsche and The Family Circus?, The Celluloid Closet, how is Bridesmaids like Les Mis??, David Schwimmer, is Bryan moving in on Marlena’s Hollywood crush, movies in the 70’s, Hard Eight, The Big Nothing, a long-haired, dorky little Sociopath, Dirty New York, There Will Be Blood, 3eanuts.com, a physical embodiment of teen angst, and as usual… Hector Elizondo.
