Movie Meltdown - Episode 112
This new session of The Caffeinated Movie Geek also features a return to our documentary series...The Really Real World. This week we discuss in-depth the Oscar-nominated film, Exit Through The Gift Shop. And along the way, we question the very nature of art, film, hype, money and reality itself. Pretty deep thoughts for a few geeks drinking coffee.
Plus while trying to figure out who Banksy is we discuss…size and placement, the sane way to celebrate the new year, empirical, going dumb and ugly, The Wal-Mart Movie Project, Orson Welles is so f-ing cool, Scott Pilgrim, The Blair Witch Project, Madonna, go big or go home, why do you turn into Bob Saget?, the cable series, props to Rob Reiner, Michael C. Hall, recasting John Malkovich, logical Latin, you sift the detritus, F for Fake, is it Michael Cera Syndrome or Andy Dick Syndrome?, a male Tina Fey, being permentantly attached to Tura Satana, dysfunctional Mom and Pop stores, most people are dumb, three thumbs up, not getting jazz, Claw on Inspector Gadget, Six Feet Under, The Doogie and Willow Show, Playboy’s Women of Wal-Mart, Lady GaGa, meeting a gigalo, The Trial, that dated 70’s Show, the lowest form of drama, Tim Burton is Aerosmith, placing value on art and Transformers don't procreate! Spoiler Alert: OBEY…Just go watch Exit Through the Gift Shop. “Is it an Andy Kaufman trick that he just played on everyone?”

Movie Meltdown - Episode 111 This week's Sofa Theater feature is Tatia Rosenthal's animated film "$9.99". What kind of movie works in cookies, a pet piggy bank, smoking a stick of gum, talking bean bag chairs, missing mothers, naked clay-animation people, physical manifestations of the voices in your head, shaving all your hair off, a magician, swimming like a dolphin and an angel...all in the name of discovering the meaning of life? The answer is, an unusual and visually impressive project called "$9.99". Plus we discuss Red, Cloak and Dagger, Commando and Final Fantasy 12. Spoiler Alert: Most of this can't be discussed without spoiling the majority of this plot. So go watch the movie before listening. “If there are angels, I don’t want them to be like that.”

Movie Meltdown - Episode 107
Like school in the summertime, what do you get when you cross Movie Meltdown and Showshow - no class!! It's here!! The long planned, much anticipated and massively labored over SUMMER SCHOOL episode! The first awesome thing about it...ok, well we're talking about "Summer School". The second awesome thing about the episode is it's hosted by the lovely KATIE from SHOWSHOW!!! And the third awesome thing about this episode is it features a One from the Vaults session from none other then Summer School's own CHAINSAW!! That's right DEAN CAMERON recalls not only how the movie came together but also a lost plotline that would have been a great addition! Listen and see if you agree... All that plus rockin' out vinyl style with Steve Martin, butt-kicking Oscar-nominated actresses, buying old Halloween costumes, the right way to announce yourself at a party and why does everybody gotta be hatin' on Angelina Jolie? A Message from your Editor: By the way, yes...you will hear some shifts in sound on this episode. It was horribly ravaged by Skype and it's affliiated software. But after a painstaking rebuilding process the episode has been restored. Seriously, if you heard what it originally sounded like - you'd be amazed it exists at all. But I loved the interaction and conversation with Katie, and was damned and determined to save this episode. So with that, I proudly present to you... "Like School in the Summertime". Spoiler Alert: Oh my God, how have you NOT seen Summer School?!!
“It’s really classy. They handled it in a really classy way. Oh man, I didn’t even mean to make that pun - but I’m glad that I did.”

Movie Meltdown - Episode 110.2
Part 2 of The Caffeinated Movie Geek continues with The Buzz and the first installment of our new segment - The Grind. Which poses the question: Can you have a smart slasher movie?? That of course leads to quite an interesting discussion. As we're sure it will with you as well. So let us know what you think on the subject…
All that plus…Viggo Mortensen, Sacha Gervasi, making your kids watch Boogie Nights, Charlize Theron, insensitive biopics, Clint Howard, Kristen Stewart, acting in fat suits, Philip Seymour Hoffman, I always thought that evil Queen was hot!, stroke acting, Kate Hudson, Twilight with Dragons?, Barbie is Karen Carpenter, Opie Gets Laid, Firelight, an acting basset hound, jump the sharp career moments, which Shiver are you talking about?, Brave New World, Gnomeo and Juliet, James Franco IS Linda Lovelace, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Sir Alfred Hitchcock, Goldie Hawn should have done porn, Lindsay Lohan IS Linda Lovelace, Choose your own Adventure, W. Earl Brown, normal couples going to see porn, the Three Stooges Movie, and the conjunction of the sexual liberation with the shag carpet was like the perfect storm for the mother of all rugburns. “Everybody in it looks like they have been abraded with sandpaper.”
